  Server population count is relative to region and time of day. For example I know Europe and US have plenty of populated servers for all maps. I am guessing perhaps you are playing in one of the less fortunate regions?
  They did away with bots a long time ago, I'm guessing it wasn't worth their resources. Personally I don't favor them, I play BF for the online experience meaning I expect and want to play against other people. Bot AI just doesn't do it for me, I prefer human intuition, but each to their own.
  As for what you paid for? Well you have single player mode (used to introduce new players to the mechanics of the game) which is available to you, and multi player mode which is available for most people. You can always play out of region, everyone else does.

  Go play the single player if you want bots. If your asking for bots in Multiplayer then hell no! Ranked servers, kill farming A.I. is never going to happen EVER.
  Bots on unranked servers? Sure, why not.

  I'm with OP. BF2 with AI was fun. Having a friend join was better yet. At this rate the controller will become the default and k/m support will come later. Once we get use to a controller, we might as well just be on a console.

  I think, BF1 needed bots, because most maps always empty. I even do not care about statistic/points and etc for them..they needed just for gameplay!
  -They can help while waiting players, game can start without waits, and while it players can replace bots.
  -They can help new players to use to the game, so they can test weapons and learn maps and after go to online. They can be in offline game (if game have a problem with connection). This can help to sell battlepacks for real money! (If EA need some money, since bots don't give points)
  They can fill empty maps, so players can play in FULL game and not only in popular maps. For example, I bought Ultimate version and it looks like trial, because other maps is not popular. And for what I paid, tell me DICE!?
  You have to do it! And not only for PC.

Playing with bots - firs of all good for training: for piloting, check weapons abilities etc. I don't know why DICE removed ability to play with bots from the game.

  Well, I really like BF1 (it's the first shooter for ling time, which I really like), but in truth problem is what I can't play often (because of job), so for me it's really hard to play with skilled players. So I am mostly on spawn map and kill statistics for other players. Also many time I see empty maps, so when I have a time to play, maps empty or need to play on popular maps and modes. This is not fun, as you can see. I think many players have same problems and good bots can solve it.

  Where is mostly short missions and last time, when I played, where is no way to skip cut scenes. It's really annoying=

  personally i think bots is good for a single player practice match offline or online but not ranked
  you just cannot have a ranked server with any bots on it though in reality. but to learn a map yes offline would be better

  It's a good joke and very true, playing Amiens where my team consists of Recons with bolt action rifles versus the other team with SMG/LMG's typically results in a blow out

  I didn't said what bots must be in online ranked servers. I said they can help to start a game, and after real players can replace them. This only as option and all.
  Also bots have statistic of shots, so cheaters can be seen anyway and with that this statistic can be send without report. Plus game can collect code of all players behavior (it have every small size and can be played as video). And I still cant understand why DICE never use it against cheaters. I think they just lazy or something. If they do not have employee for it, then they can add this information to community.
  Also this discussion is not about cheaters, it's about AI, which can solve problems with empty maps.

  ^^ You don't need bots to start game. They could change the limit to start game from 15 to 2, but what's the point of this in CQC for example. There is not enough players and before you find one it can take few minutes. And bots overall can be really pain in **** to get them to work as they should. As some basic things takes so long to get fixed it would take years for DICE to make them 'good/normal' players.

  IMHO bots must be only with special modes - train or cooperative (seems in BF1942 this called mod with bots), where You may play with friend vs bots just for fun or for increase of team work or train. But add bots to the human vs human game (bad idea to only round begin too) - just imagine - bots takes tanks or planes, and went do something, and when humans arrive (bots will be kicked), tank may be captured by enemy, all planes will be smash.
  About team balance - battlefield 1 has basic team balance. And if You play at round begin 10x20 - just wait, after few minutes all players arrives. If You play at end of round 10x20 - this is not a game balance bug, because many players leave losing teams, and new players, who arrives to losing team - instantly leave game too, because not any reason to play, when You enter at server to team, that lose 600x900 tickets.

  I like the idea of bots (kinda). The pros and cons are clearly mentioned earlier in this post. Its a matter of whether or not theyll implement them, which I dont think they ever will.
  I think it would be a great idea in the test range, but that would mean they need to implement a test range also.

  If there were a test range feature, then having bots as a part of that would be useful. There are a few vehicles I never use, bomber being one of them, where I would actually like to practice while being shot at (but not in a live match cause I'm just gonna screw over my team the time or two I even get the bomber).
  I chuckle though at what type of AI they would have. Would a bot actually give a command and follow an attack/defend order, or lay back in the weeds somewhere trying to get its headshot count up while not PTFO lol.

  You can already practice at empty server with vehicles. Sure it won't be same but you will get some skill. But testing new vehicles/planes while in live match isn't bad either, just think of people that use planes as transport vehicles at start of round.
